Josie Winfield

Head of Learner Experience

I have worked in the fitness industry for the past 8 years, initially as a personal trainer at Adam’s gym where I was kept busy delivering classes, consultations and PT sessions to members of all abilities. The experience I gained here was invaluable for my personal development as a coach and now as a tutor and assessor at Create PT- you really cannot beat hands on experience out on the gym floor! I really found my calling in personal training; witnessing a client’s confidence grow as they progress in the gym is so rewarding and makes work feel pretty damn fun.

Later (during COVID), I developed a successful online group coaching and nutrition business, to help people keep moving throughout lockdown. I still coach a handful of clients online but my main focus is now as a tutor and assessor at Create PT, with a particular focus on nutrition. My own passion for fitness lies in CrossFit- I have been fortunate enough to compete all over the world at an elite level, and have met many of my best friends through the sport.

What I love most is that there is always something to improve upon and it is a sport that rewards you for what you can do- not what you look like! Through my own experience as well as coaching CrossFit at various gyms over the years, I have seen how empowering this mindset shift is- for women in particular. I have also recently completed my first half-marathon and have entered a Hyrox for later this year so time to see if this Crossfitter can also run!

It's a sport that rewards you for what you can do, not what you look like, and that mindset shift is empowering, for women in particular.
